It appeared while I tried to update two apps that appeared in my “Updates” tab. The solution was to click on the respective app name in your case on “Logic Pro” to get to its full App Store page — the one with the description, screenshots, reviews etc. From there I was able to update the apps. Another solution is to delete the old version from your Applications folder — most conveniently from the Launchpad press F4 , then pressing the Option key so that the icons jiggle and then clicking the “X” badge on Logic Pro’s icon.

Then you can go to your App Store account tab where you see your purchases, and redownload the latest compatible version for your OS.

Luckily it’s the same version as on High Sierra and Catalina, so it can be either copied over, or simply just linked with a symbolic link from its other location as I have several bootable partitions.

After two phone calls and 4 email, screen shots and “diagnostics” sent, there still is no solution that works for me. The Support tech Jeffrey Gilbert emailed today to say. However, they are also asking for info about this issue and some specific diagnostics as well, so I know we may not have a full solution just yet.

If you have time today to gather some diagnostics please let me know. So itried all of the above below procedures. Signed out of the App store. Trashed Logic from my Apps folder. Signed back into the App store. Got same message as always I’ve never gotten the option to update the version that is compatible with my OS. I need to upgrade to Logic I am NOT willing to chase my tail updating my OS only to then have to update my apps, my plugins, etc etc etc. C’MON Apple. Working Professional here!

Then you may want to reboot your Mac to make this change “stick”. I was told by Apple support to: Trash the Logic app from the Applications folder back up, if necessary. No need to empty the Trash either. Reboot your Mac Open App store and go to purchases. I don’t know if this made a difference but I signed out then signed back in.

Me and a few others in the community support forums have noticed a fault in Garageband Smart Controls Panel Frozen since the wide-ranging OSX application updates last week in support of Catalina.

We’re pri using c 10.4.7 which cannot be upgraded past High Sierra. And since GB is essentially Logic Lite, I was wondering prk this fault carried over into Logic, or if any other issues have cropped up on older hardware in the past week or so? Posted on Oct 18, AM. When you highlight an instrument or an instrument track, and then open the smart control for that instrument, things work fine. If you then try to change the instrument OR select a different instrument track, the smart control stays frozen – to the extent where it will even stretch on the X axis if you try to resize its window like a very badly stretched jpeg.

This appears to have resulted from the recent updates to Garageband and Logic on 7th October release of Logic No more recent updates available via App Store, suggesting Apple have yet to rectify their code. I’m expecting a further call from Apple support tomorrow – if there’s been any development then I’ll post it here.
