October 5, , update for Outlook (KB) – Sign in to download Office

Just built a computer and, as usual, installed Outlook from my subscription. Previously, after installing, I’d launch Outlook and manually add my pop3 account that’s still live. I’d then remove the tick to auto-check the settings as Force9 no longer have a working relay. If I didn’t remove the tick it would fail. Now, with the new wizard that’s launched, a new interface appears and no matter what I select, including manual, I cannot proceed as it always checks the settings.

Which fail. What if someone simply didn’t want to relay and only wanted an account that received e-mail? Outlook, along with no longer supporting adding an Exchange account without auto-discovery is getting a bit annoying. I’ve gone to Control Panel, mail, but that also launches the exact same config wizard.

I’m stuck and cannot add my main email account. I might as well just but office and be done with the subscription. According to plusnet help, both IMAP and pop is available, I dont see anything untoward with regard their pop settings. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. This is not plusnet. It’s force9 owned by Plusnet. Force9 vanished a long, long time ago as did the relay server so I’m left with an account that still functions but no relay.

I could use another company to relay but that’s not the point. Even if you follow the supposed instructions, on the Plusnet page, it doesn’t work. I’m also under the impression that the Mail app has changed which leaves me with webmail. The supplied settings, from Plusnet for IMAP, are for plusnet and not force9 despite clicking force9. I don’t have another mail account otherwise I would use their relay to forward. I could also pay for a service like authsmtp but, why should I?

This worked before the ‘current’ build of Outlook ‘. Thank you for replying though. I only actually created this thread in the vain hope that someone at MS is listening. So I really don’t want to lose this address or even log in online.

I shouldn’t have to forward email. Good idea though as I might just have to do that. Create an outlook. I’m afraid that Force9 Plusnet doesn’t allow forwarding, as far as I can see.
